昨天，Earth Hour的时候你们在哪里？有没有关灯？

我觉得，对很多人而言真的是一个象征性的一小时做秀而已。

虽然说要提高大众对二氧化碳排放对气候影响的意识，但是根本就是治标不治本。

过了一两个星期，可能人人还是冷气开到像冰箱那样。

人的习性是很根本的问题，常言道江山易改，本性难移。

要培养意识，应该从小就做起。

学校和家庭如果不做些东西，你觉得有几个人会鸟环保，会鸟气候变化？

环保与否，气候变不变，就现在而言对人不会造成日常生活上直接的影响。

即使海平面上升了多少cm, 天气变热了几度， 你觉得又有几个人真的关心？

大家比较关心饭碗保不保得住？年终有花红与否？供车供房子，情人爱不爱我，股市楼市涨还是跌？

有人失足跌进MRT列轨死了，一些人甚至开口骂死者让他上班迟到，要死干嘛不去跳楼？！

所以，环保和拯救地球这种人人有责的事情，如果不列入教育里，实在是讲不通。

当我看见Dubai那个著名大酒店把照明的spotlight关掉后，发现很可笑的是客人的房间竟然还是亮着的，我只能说这真的只是作秀。

希望我们将来不再需要 Earth Hour， 百姓平民也可以自发性的拥有环保意识。

有时候很替Friendster和ICQ感到悲哀。

为什么？因为他俩难兄难弟有着同样的命运。

既生瑜，何生亮？

还记得MSN推出后，迅速垄断chat的市场，ICQ一年内立刻无人问津，悲！

现在出了一个Facebook，Friendster也命在旦夕之间。

很奇怪，网络世界无所谓谁抄谁，最重要快，方便，容易使用和大家喜欢。

从前大家一天没看一次Friendster都睡不着，现在如果一刻没有check一下下Facebook，我看有人会坐立难安，吃不下饭。

Meeting到一半，可能有人会偷偷用 iPhone看Facebook。真不是开玩笑。

其实现在blogger一般都用blogspot等等比较流行的来写blog，只有少爷我还是独孤一味，多年来钟情于Friendster blog。

真实老顽固。遗传？

那天T说女人如果统治世界，女人可能分分钟会让男人死光光，不需任何理由。

不是讲笑的，女人果真要你死，什么都做的出来。

今天可以至死不渝，在天愿做比翼鸟，在地愿做连理枝；明天可能叫你死远一点，不要惹毛到老娘。

如果想用 sinusoidal curve来形容女人的情绪，你就注定错了。

女人的情绪波幅是用 log scale 才可以看见的（幸好少爷是学过op-amp的）。

千万不要预测女人的情绪走势，起伏可是比Dow Jones指数大，连wall street那些玩 daily margin的都闻风丧胆的。

所以不要得罪女人，不是因为怕她有牙；是怕她即使没牙，用舔的也要跟你死过！

这个世界就是这样。讲多错多。

当你发达时，千万不要对人说：有钱不是万能的。

人家会说你讲风凉话，虚伪。

今天很显，很想喂狗。

少爷曾经听过这么一个故事。

古时有个文人（好像是苏东波）拜会某寺庙的住持方丈，想谈谈禅理。

方丈和东波相对盘膝而坐，然后方丈问了这么一个问题：

请问施主眼里看见了什么？

东波大言不惭，毫不思索说：看见一坨大便！

东波反问方丈：敢问方丈看见了什么呢？

方丈面带笑容说：看见一尊菩萨。

东波感觉爽呆了，带着欢喜的心情回家，然后骄傲的告诉他妹妹这事。

妹妹听过，哈哈大笑指着东波说：

哥啊，你才是一坨大便，方丈才是一尊菩萨！

东波不解。

妹妹说：心存菩萨者观人人皆菩萨；心存大便者观人人皆大便也！

如果没有真心诚意对待别人，就别天天嚷着要别人掏出一颗真心对你！

一天到晚尽是批判别人为大便，唉，真为难了你。

I work in a very dangerous place and have a very challenging job. How challenging? Let me describe it to you.

Sometimes I go to a lab with a UV laser that can pulse an intense beam onto a very focus spot and put 20mJ in 0.000000023 second. That creates a temperature well over 1 million Celsius degrees on virtually any surface it hit on. That’s almost the temperature at the core of the Sun. Luckily all that happens in less than a millionth of a second and it won’t penetrate anywhere more than 1% of the thickness of your hair.

Sometimes I go to a kitchen full of wonderful chemicals. Basically you must wear like a ‘Power Ranger’ to handle these magic potions. Why so? Because I was told there is a chemical so lethal that when it spills on you, you will not feel anything but the naughty chemical simply goes through your skin and feeds on your bones! Sounds scary enough?

From the workplace, I also learn that electrons in our cellphones or laptops are traveling at almost 4000 times faster than the allowed speed limit of some of the expressways in Singapore. Though very small and light, these ’speedy Gonzales’ in you computers are so fast that when they are moving in packs, they actually collide and force the copper atoms that are more than 100000 times heavier to move!

Sometimes I use a machine to look at things that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Depending on my luck, I sometimes manage to see lines that the diameters are only 30 to 40 atoms wide. By the way that’s the smallest thing I have made so far. What’s more interesting is there is another machine capable of putting down atoms layer by layer at a time!

Sometimes, I have to knock on the door of a person who uses another awesome machine to peek into sample more than 1000 times thinner than my hair, just to find out the size of an atom has changed by 0.5% under immense stress.

Cool right?

Okay, that kind of motivate me, again…

今天在学校大约十点，一名大四学生捅了一名教授几刀，然后畏罪爬上techno plaza跳下自寻短见。

少爷那个时间刚到学校不久，而且事发地点离少爷的lab不远。

事发后，Andy还叫我去看热闹…但现在回想起，如果看见一滩血迹和一个四肢扭曲的尸体，我想我今晚是该发噩梦的了。

事件后，大家议论纷纷。有的说学生太stress, 有的说师生间有仇，有的说教授对学生不好等等。我不想猜测原因，但好好一个人，却落到伤人自杀，最后苦的还是家人父母。

真的，当你想不开时，想想你最亲爱的人吧！

今天作试验时，听了一个让人义愤填膺的故事。

少爷觉得故事很恶心，有很想揍人的感觉。

我心里暗自把它煎完皮，拆完骨然后碾成肉碎喂狗。只怕狗都不吃。

少爷上周末捐血的时候，发现捐血的人有一部分看起来不止不友善，还很凶悍！

可能这就是所谓的面恶心善。

面善心恶的人也到处都是，这些人更让人防不胜防。

分分钟被吃掉都不懂。

Lap is a person who talks about almost everything. But I don’t always agree with what he has to say most of the time.

However, there is one thing he taught us that I find it particularly useful and constructive.

“If you want to complain about something, make sure you can offer at least a solution or suggestion to that complaint. A complaint without any solution is called whining.”

Are you not happy with the current situation you have? Do you have something to ‘complain without offering any solution’ or… to whine?

今天我真是搞不懂自己走什么狗屎运。

上个礼拜，MFF的e-beam1时间表安排了我在拜一的中午2点接受训练。而我让小妹帮我订的e-beam2时间则安排在拜二的午后。

好了，全都相安无事。少爷我周末高枕无忧。

到了拜一的今天，我突然吃错药失了忆，起床后开开心心上IME去。

到了IME，打开电邮和流程表一看，哇靠！不得了！2点有e-beam训练！

然后这是无巧不成书，信件箱显示新邮件一则。打开一看，管理员说今天的训练将被延迟到明天的上午10点-12点。

这时，我只能说我狗屎运发挥的淋漓尽至。

第一，要是少爷今天去学校而才被告知取消，少爷会白跑一趟，少爷会很想打人。

第二，要是新时间被安排在午后，那少爷原本的booking将作废。

第三，明天早上学完如何操作，吃过午饭就可以立马自己用，而不需朋友的援助了。再者，也不须跑两趟学校。

应该是拜得神多，自有神庇佑。阿弥陀佛…善哉善哉。

For those who think long term investment.

When you tell them to cut losses when the prices plunge, they will tell you they are investing long term.

As the share prices drop like there’s no bottom, they will say don’t worry they will rebound.

This is analogous to a gambler keep losing money and still saying “don’t worry, my luck will come. I will turn this around.”

When you tell them they are wrong, they will be angry!

P/S: long term investment does not mean you can’t pull out during bad times. Be flexible!
